Under 21 years old with AR MCD, a client can qualify for a new wheelchair after two years of use. There must be a medical necessity to get a new wheelchair as well ie; growth, normal wear and tear. Often insurance will require a Service repair quote that must meet at-least 50% the cost of the new wheelchair. Once a wheelchair user is 21 or over, insurance will cover a new wheelchair every 5 years. Within the 5 year mark clients can still receive repairs on their wheelchair as well as seating. **This information is dependent on Medicare and Medicaid standards and is subject to change.
